Sandbach Round Table was formed in 1948 and has had a long and prestigious history in the town. Round Table nationally was formed several years before in 1927 and Sandbach adopted the fun, fellowship and friendship ethos which has helped us to maintain a strong membership.

Bala Buggy Racing 2011In 2014 there are now 15 active members who contribute to the running of Sandbach Round Table.

We have a number of new members joining our team, as well as the assistance of past Tablers when we set off to conquer a challenge or complete an event.

Sandbach Round Table has always been a social group and will always encourage those that want the same.

Additionally, Sandbach Round Table likes to put something back into the town by way of donations, time and hard work to improve the local community.

The Table is operated by an annually elected committee. This ensures we can operate our community service events that raise money or undertake activities in the town that help to improve or improve the lives of others within the town. Our committee also operates the social functions which includes formal and informal occasions with wives and partners.

Round Table is operated throughout the UK. Like a local Table, that too has a committee elected for the year with the President of RTBI (www.rtbi.co.uk) which devolves the operation at a Regional level to the Area Committees.

AGM 2011In this way, Sandbach Round Table belongs to a much wider network of like-minded men that offers greater social opportunities as well as sporting challenges and competitions that take place throughout the UK.

On a wider scale, there are Tablers throughout Europe and the rest of the World bringing forward opportunities for International visits.

We are always willing to donate to worthy causes in the local area. In 2011 we donated to Sandbach Cub Scouts, St. Mary’s playgroup, Cheshire Buddies, Sandbach Brownies as well as specific donations relating to individuals completing sponsored events.

Sandbach Round Table are involved in some of the key events in the town including the Transport Festival Hog Roast, Beer Festival, Christmas Lights erection and the Santa Float. Throughout the year these events help raise money for much needed charities and local good causes.

Sandbach 41 Club

For our older members we are very closely linked to Sandbach 41 Club. It’s the place where older tablers can join once they get past 45 (there’s a story why it’s called 41 Club). There are many events we do jointly throughout the year and they are always there to support us in our fundraising, help us to drink beer and to remind us how it was in their day – but we wouldn’t want it any other way.
