Crowds Tuck Into Famous Hog Heaven

TEAM WORK: Members of Round
Table who organised the Hog Roast.
Hundreds of
hungry festival-goers enjoyed Sandbach's May Day celebrations on
the cobbled square on Monday.
The annual
event, which featured a 100kg hog roast, was a resounding success.
Steve
Williams, Chairman of Sandbach Round Table which organised
the event, said: "It was a fantastic day and we sold more of the
pig than ever before. The turnout was brilliant and despite the
rain in the
morning, I think everyone had a great time."
"Overall, I
hope the Round Table has raised more than £800, which will
go into the pot to be distributed to local charities."
"The event
was completely free to attend and to take part in. We
organise the day to allow local charities the opportunity to
promote themselves and make some money."
Visitors were
treated to 10 charity stalls, the chance to soak local figureheads
in the stocks, face painting and the hog roast.
Elsewhere,
churchgoers at St. Mary's Church enjoyed an exhibition
and displays of crafts, history and cultures from countries which
make
up the Commonwealth, a Songs of Praise service with guest organist
Richard Lowe and the crowning of nine year old Rose Queen Hannah
Whittaker.
